Solve Agri Dairy Institute to boost agricultural productivity through modern training

Karachi, February 18, 2011: Solve Agri Pak, a one-stop shop for dairy, livestock and related agriculture value added solutions, has inaugurated the Solve Agri Dairy Institute™, the first ever private sector dairy & livestock training & skills development institute in Pakistan. Solve Agri Dairy Institute™ will provide pre-designed and customized skill development programmes to enhance the capabilities of farmers and stakeholders in the dairy, livestock and related sectors.

The auspicious inauguration ceremony for Solve Agri Dairy Institute™ was conducted at the institute’s premises in grand style, with notable experts from government, academia and dairy & livestock sectors gracing the occasion with their presence. Azhar Ali Syed, MD Tetra Pak presided over the ceremony as Chief Guest and was joined by General (retired) Muhammad Ali, CEO Punjab Livestock & Dairy Development Board and Dr. Talat Naseer Pasha, Dean, University of Veterinary & Animal Sciences.

Speaking on occasion, Haroon Lodhi, CEO Solve Agri Pak, apprised the audience on the need for a dedicated dairy & livestock knowledge based training institute. He expanded on the training curriculum and the different training modules that would be conducted at the institute, elaborating how programmes focusing on small holder famers, staff training on milk quality and hygiene were a dire need in today’s economy and would greatly improve the productivity of the dairy & livestock sector, a significant contributor to Pakistan’s GDP. Mr. Lodhi stated that specific training modules were pre-designed to incorporate best practices and modern farm management techniques and that the Institute had acquired the services of highly experienced instructors who would impart practical knowledge using an easy to follow hands-on approach.

After the inauguration ceremony concluded, visitors were taken on a tour of the premises and witnessed firsthand the state-of-the-art audio-visual training facilities equipped at Solve Agri Dairy Institute™. The Institute has already commenced its first training module, a four month training programme for the agri-services teams of Engro Foods, Haleeb Foods, Nestle Pakistan, Noon and Shakarganj. These teams are currently participating in the Dairy Hub project; a Tetra Pak Pakistan initiative for uplifting the milk production of small herd dairy farmers, implemented by Solve Agri Pak. Modules on milk hygiene and quality; training for milk collectors, dairy & livestock services staff, dairy farm supervisors/managers and modules for dairy farm feasibility/economics are also featured for future training sessions. -----ends---------
