LG ELECTRONICS UNLEASHES ITS CRICKET WORLD CUP CAMPAIGN

Karachi, February 18, 2011: LG Electronics, Global Digital Leader and one of the major sponsors of cricket world cup today unleashed its marketing and promotional campaign for cricket world cup 2011 titled ‘LG LAO WORLD CUP JAO’.

The world cup campaign details were announced at a press conference held at LG Care and Delight Center in Karachi. 


The campaign aims to bring excitement among the cricket lovers by offering exotic instant prizes on purchase of any LG product during the 8-week campaign. Among various prizes being offered by LG Electronics, the grand prize is a trip to Sri Lanka and an opportunity to watch cricket match involving Pakistan.

Speaking at the Press Conference, LG’s General Manager for Pakistan Mr. S.Y. Ryu said: “LG is a global company. But in every country that it operates in, LG is sensitive to the local culture. We believe in supporting activities that are important to the people of the countries we are active in. We believe that caring companies must give something back to society.”

Also speaking on the occasion, Mr. Imran Zaki, Head of Corporate and Brand Marketing for LG Pakistan said “Through this campaign we aim to win heart of every individual who somehow is connected with LG. LG is a proud sponsor of Cricket World Cup and we want to cherish this association by involving all our cosnumers.”

LG is also planning to carry out a variety of promotional activities related to the World Cup over the next few months. These will include arrangements for large screen viewing of World Cup matches in several hotels, clubs and other venues, competitions with air tickets to Sri Lanka and match tickets and LG products as prizes, special TV and radio shows and daily World Cup updates in the print media.

The Cricket World Cup 2011 will be fought out between 14 countries in India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh over a 49 day period starting from February 19, 2011. Over 600 million people in over 100 countries are expected to watch this premier cricketing event. The World Cup Final will be held on April 02.

LG’s support to cricket is not new. It has been one of the sponsors of the World Cup from 1999 to date and has been a regular sponsor of various cricketing tournaments involving Pakistan.
