Karachi, Feb 18, 2011: A Junooni flag, composed of over two hundred and sixty thousand pictures and conceived and brought to life by Coca-Cola, was officially unveiled for public viewing at the Model Town Park, Lahore.  Personalized goodwill messages, painstakingly gathered from fans nationwide, have been put together to form the mammoth photo-mosaic, measuring one hundred feet in height and one hundred and fifty feet in width. This unique and record-breaking effort embodies the support and passion that the people of this cricket loving nation hold for their team.

Collecting pictures for the junooni flag was also a labor of love; whereby cricket junoonis from across Pakistan were provided the opportunity to interact at innovative media booths and take pictures of themselves exhibiting their passion with unabashed glee! Cricket enthusiasts would enter booths and record goodwill messages, share their personal cricket stories and give voice to their emotions with enthusiasm. State-of-the-art digital technology was then utilized to transfer the imagery from the cameras in the booths, to the official Coke Cricket Junoon website and Facebook page. These images were then combined piecemeal to create the junooni flag, a tangible symbol of Pakistani cricket passion.

At the event a large group of cricket enthusiasts from all walks of life, led by the legendary Chacha Cricket, displayed the flag proudly to the accompaniment of the rhythmic beats of Coca-Cola’s cricket fans’ anthem. The grand show of national spirit was greatly appreciated by both young and old present at the occasion.
Addressing the gathering, Fahad Qadir, Public Affairs and Communications Manager of Coca-Cola Pakistan, spoke movingly about the passion and love that we as a nation have for the game of cricket. He stated: “The highlight of cricket matches is not just the scoreboard or even the stars, but the fans who are the real heroes of the game and without whose support, no team can go far. Coca-Cola believes that we must Live Positively in all that we do, and the idea of developing this largest ever photo-mosaic national flag is a reflection of this value. Through this initiative we want to pay tribute to the fans of the game of cricket all over Pakistan.”
People of all ages were seen at the Model Town Park to witness this once in a lifetime event. Although our nation of cricket fans has been deprived of hosting the upcoming World Cup and subsequent matches, our support for the fans is at its peak. The momentous unveiling of the Junooni flag is testament to the nation’s support for the national team and symbolizes the fervor we have for the sport. ENDS
