Lahore, October 26, 2011: Tetra Pak Pakistan and
the Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund (PPAF) today signed a Memorandum of Understanding
(MoU) to help the flood victims in Sindh. The donation of PKR 12 million will
complement PPAF’s existing efforts of establishing a model village in Muzaffargarh.
“The recent floods in
Pakistan have created a humanitarian crisis, leaving thousands of people either
displaced or in need of aid. By supporting PPAF in its relief efforts we hope
to play a meaningful role in the region,” remarked Azhar Ali Syed, Managing
Director Tetra Pak Pakistan, at the MoU signing ceremony.
In 2010, Tetra Laval
donated 12 million rupees to the flood relief effort, contributing to the
restoration of the local infrastructure. Tetra Pak Pakistan has also previously
collaborated with PPAF on its school milk programme, under which school children
were provided milk on a daily basis in 41 schools in Rahim Yar Khan.
Such initiatives have
proved to enhance food security and nutritional status while preparing
Pakistanis to face the challenges of tomorrow; a key theme of Tetra Pak’s
corporate social responsibility campaign.
