Karachi,
June 08, 2011: Tetra Pak, the world's leading food processing and
packaging solutions company, celebrated the graduation of the Dairy Hub
staff training programme in grand style. The Dairy Hub Staff Training Programme
is part of the ongoing Dairy Hub project conceptualized by Tetra Pak Pakistan
and implemented by its customers, Engro Foods Ltd, Haleeb Foods Ltd and Nestle
Pakistan. Solve Agri Pak (Private) Limited, as an implementing partner of dairy
development activities, has closely collaborated with the agri-services staff
of these dairy companies on behalf of Tetra Pak Pakistan.
The staff trainees
had participated in a four months staff training programme. These participants
from Engro Foods Ltd, Haleeb Foods Ltd, Nestle Pakistan, Shakarganj Food
Products and Noon Pakistan were instructed in a number of key areas including communication,
rural sociology, animal nutrition, animal health, calf rearing, reproduction
& artificial insemination, dairy farm management & economics and milk
quality & hygiene among others.
Addressing
the audience on the auspicious occasion, Azhar Ali Syed, Managing Director
Tetra Pak Pakistan said, “Through its interactive training sessions, Solve Agri
Dairy Institute™ has trained key members of the Dairy Hub staff team on
subjects of vast importance to the dairy sector. Once these staff members enter
the field and interact with rural dairy farmers, we are confident that they
will produce positive results and help improve agricultural efficiency and
growth.”
Speaking
at the event, Solve Agri Pak (Private) Limited Chief Executive Officer, Mr.
Haroon M. K. Lodhi said, “After four weeks of theoretical coursework and twelve
weeks of intensive on-job-training, we are confident that the Dairy Hub staff
members are fully capable of tackling the obstacles and challenges faced by
rural dairy farmers every day.”
Based on a ‘One Herd’ concept, Dairy Hub is a dairy development
programme initiated by Tetra Pak Pakistan, which concentrates on improving the
breed, feed, animal diseases, knowledge and management skills of farmers. The
programme assists in achieving the dual objectives of enhancing food security
while contributing towards poverty alleviation.
