Syngenta and its employees are pledging more support for relief efforts for those affected by the floods in Pakistan. An initial US$50,000 donation has been made to the International Red Cross/ Red Crescent.

Through a global donation drive, employees are encouraged to also contribute, with Syngenta matching every dollar up to US$150,000, to these relief efforts. Employees can choose to donate either directly to the local efforts of Syngenta’s Pakistan office or to the International Red Cross/ Red Crescent.

The International Red Cross/ Red Crescent have been providing food, shelter and hygiene kits to people displaced by the floods. The agency also helps with tracing services for family members who have lost contact with their relatives and families to be reunited.

“Our thoughts are with the people affected by this disaster and we are greatly saddened by this devastation on families, crops and the country,” said Arshad Husain, the Country Head of Syngenta Pakistan. “Syngenta will provide support for affected communities through international agencies and our employees’ efforts.”

Local employees in Syngenta’s Pakistan office have already pledged the equivalent of a day’s pay towards relief efforts. Syngenta will also work closely with farming communities in the affected areas to provide the necessary assistance.
