LG’s Direct
Drive Motor Receives 20-year-life Accreditation from European Association for
Electrical, Electronic & Information Technologies
Karachi, March 2013 -
LG Electronics (LG) announced that its Direct Drive motor, used in its
innovative washing machines, has been recognized for its durability by the
Association for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies (VDE - Verband
der Elektrotechnik Elektronik Informationstechnik]. The scientific and
technical association, one of Europe’s largest, gave LG’s Direct Drive motor
its 20-year-life certification. The advanced motor provides users with powerful
yet quieter cycles and comes with a 10-year warranty.
Based
on the testing of 4.2 wash cycles a week and 220 cycles a year, VDE determined
that LG’s Direct Drive motor would last for at least 20 years and approximately
4,400 cycles.
“We’re
delighted to have been given this highly esteemed certificate. LG has
continually strived to develop products and technologies that would stand the
test of time,” said Seong-jin Jo, President and CEO of the LG Electronics Home
Appliance Company. “This recognition reflects LG’s growing reputation for
producing appliances that are not only strong performers but also remarkably reliable
and durable. Through its commitment to excellence and technological innovation,
LG remains firm in its goal to become the number one washing machine brand.”
With its
introduction in 1998, LG’s Direct Drive motor was the world’s first motor to be
directly attached to the washing machine’s drum, drastically reducing energy
consumption as well as noise and vibration. Since then, it has received
recognition from a number of testing authorities around the world.
