LG’s IPS Monitors, Viral Video Receives Over
10 million Views on YouTube Since October 19
Karachi,
December 11, 2012 – LG Electronics’ viral video demonstrating the
lifelike image quality of its IPS monitors has generated over 10 million views
on YouTube in just 11 days, making it a worldwide sensation. The 1 minute 50 second
video clip was developed by LG Electronics Netherlands and published on October
19.
The video was originally posted with
the title ‘So Real, it’s Scary’. It shows LG installing several of its new IPS
monitors in the floor of an elevator. After the assembly is complete, people
are filmed going into the elevator on a hidden camera. While the elevator
lights flicker, the monitors begin to display what appears to be the floor of
the elevator falling out from underneath them. The stunt was convincing enough
to surprise nearly every passenger caught on camera.
LG’s IPS monitors represent the next
generation of premium display products. Thanks to In-Plane Switching
(IPS) panel technology widely used by LG, these monitors deliver lifelike color consistency
and representation across a wider viewing angle of up to 175 degrees. Unlike
conventional Twisted Nematic (TN) panels, the IPS technology brings advantages
in picture quality and color consistency, letting users enjoy the most vivid
and true-to-life colors. IPS monitors also produce an incredibly smooth viewing
experience, eliminating the blur that often accompanies rapid motion in fast-paced action scenes. It is perfect for watching
sports and playing video games as well as professional applications such as editing
photographs and video, or working with graphics-intensive programs.

at LG Electronics. “LG monitors will continue to be refined to make the best
use of IPS technology. At the same time, we will strive to set the standard in
the monitor market through differentiated marketing activities.”
The company plans to incorporate IPS panels into a wider
range of its products such as CINEMA 3D monitors, CINEMA 3D TV monitors and LED
monitors, increasing the percentage of IPS monitors in its monitor lineup
through 2013.
