Karachi, 02 December 2011: The Sprite Cricket Next 2011 finals were held recently in Karachi. City champions from Karachi, Hyderabad, Lahore, Rahim Yar Khan, Gujranwala, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad and Sukkur played for the title of Sprite Cricket Next 2011 national champions. These were witnessed by a huge crowd which comprised of people from all walks of life.
Cricket fans and media personalities Anoushey Ashraf, Mathira, Adnan Siddiqui, AIjaz Aslam, Mirza Iqbal Baig, Ali Safina and Aamer Naseer from City FM89 were accompanied by legendary cricketer Javed Miandad at Sprite Cricket Next 2011 championship finals. Javed Miandad commented, “Each and every cricketer has played street cricket in one form or the other. I started my cricket on the streets and these matches are a reminder of those days. “
Sprite Cricket Next has given street cricketers across Pakistan an opportunity to exhibit their talent in an innovative high-tech environment. Going through a competitive round of matches starting from their mohalla, followed by the city; the Gujranwala Pehlwans defeated the Lahore leopards in the final to win the coveted title of Sprite Cricket Next 2011 national champions along with a cash prize of Rs. 400, 000 and a year’s supply of Sprite.
