Karachi, May 2, 2011: The Overseas Investors Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OICCI) which is the representative body of over 180 foreign investors in Pakistan appointed Mr Naved A Khan, as President of the Chamber for the year 2011-12 in their 151st Annual General Meeting (AGM) held on April 29, 2011. Along with the President, a new Managing Committee was also elected by OICCI members.
The new Managing Committee for 2011-12 comprises the Vice President, Mr Humayun Bashir (Country General Manager – IBM) and eight other members
namely Mr Asif Jooma (Managing Director – Abbott Laboratories (Pakistan) Limited), Mr Asad S Jafar (Chairman & CEO – Phillips Electrical Industries of Pakistan Limited), Mr Azhar Ali Syed (Managing Director – Tetra Pak Pakistan Limited), Mr Kamal A Chinoy (Managing Director & CEO – Pakistan Cables Limited), Mr Khalid Rahman (Managing Director & CEO – Pakistan Petroleum Limited), Mr Mohammad Zubair (Country Representative – Chevron Pakistan Limited), Mr Sirajuddin Aziz (Chief Executive Officer – Bank Alfalah Limited) and Mr Vincent R Harris OBE (Chief Executive – The Hub Power Company Limited).While addressing the AGM, Mr Naved Khan thanked the members for electing him as the new president and said, “The outgoing Managing Committee of OICCI has undertaken some important initiatives and the new committee will take these forward and achieve new benchmarks. We will continue to facilitate foreign investors in Pakistan and accelerate efforts to promote foreign investment in the country. We will render our continuous support to the government in nurturing a favorable and equitable business environment in Pakistan through dialogue at various forums”.
Mr Naved A Khan is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Faysal Bank Limited and brings with him over twenty-six years of work experience, with twenty four years of broad-based and varied Corporate and Investment banking experience.
OICCI represents over 180 foreign companies doing business in Pakistan, many of whom began operations in Pakistan over 60 years ago. OICCI is the oldest trade body in the country and region having been established 150 years ago. OICCI members collectively contribute over 29 percent of Pakistan’s total GNP, 22 percent of total tax receipts, provide direct employment to approximately 150,000 people and spend Rs 1 billion a year on CSR. OICCI also plays an active role in terms of representation and advocacy to the government, various regulatory bodies, and policy makers.
