Syngenta extends its Flood Relief Efforts

Crop Protection Sprayers will be provided to the flood affected growers in Noshera, KPK

Karachi, January 25, 2011: As part of flood relief efforts, Syngenta had pledged to work closely with farming communities in the affected areas to offer the necessary assistance. As part of this initiative, Syngenta Pakistan provided Crop Protection Sprayers to flood affected growers in Noshera, KPK.

This event was presided by Mr. Gul Nawaz Khatak Director General Agricultural Extention and Chief planning officer KPK. Growers present on the occasion appreciated Syngenta’s rehabilitation efforts for them.

This activity will go beyond helping farmers in just monetary terms but

actually grant them with a tool to earn a livelihood for themselves and their families. The hand operated sprayers will enable growers to spray crop protection products on their crops and save them from insects, weeds and diseases. The market value of each sprayer is PKR 4000/-

“Effects of the destruction caused by the floods are still marked on the life of the victims. We understand that relief work is not limited to the donation as rehabilitation of the affectees is the next phase after survival. Hence, we aim to provide them essential aid to help them re-establish their standard of living.” Said Mr. Arshad Hussain, Managing Director, Syngenta Pakistan.

Globally Syngenta had already donated USD 50,000 in August 2010 towards flood relief in Pakistan. Local employees in Syngenta’s Pakistan office had also pledged the equivalent of a day’s pay towards relief efforts.
