Karachi (December 09, 2010) : LG Electronics, the fast growing company in pakistan, has stepped into renewable solar energy products and has introduced 'solar panel' in the local market. suyoung ryu, general manager of LG Electronics pakistan, in an interview withbusiness recorder here on wednesday said that the first shipment of the company's 'solar panel' is expected to arrive in pakistan by the end of this month.
he said that at the time of power shortage, solar energy could be the best alternative solution to minimise the problem.
this renewable energy product would help pakistan to overcome the energy crisis issue here, he said, adding that lg pakistan would be first company to import solar panel from korea.

LG Electronics is developing not only mono crystaline and multi crystaline products but also thin-film products. it is also applying future generation r&d toward the development of all its solar technology and affiliated products. with regard to amorphous silion thin film,LG Electronics has received widespread global acclaim. currently, there are 70 r&d experts focused solely on developing solar technology and its related products.
"we are dealing with all electronic items including air-conditioners, mobile phones, televisions, etc, and our market share in every items is on the increase", ryu said. "we want to make lg as national brand for the consumers of this country", he added. "the quality and affordability is our top priority in all products being sold at the local market", he said.
he said that pakistan is a huge market having much potential to further grow businesses here. with population of over 180 million people, pakistan is the largest market in the middle east and africa region and seventh in the world, he added. "considering this potential, we have also planned to set up manufacturing plant in pakistan", he said.
he pointed out that the company has already introduced another product of security system recently in pakistan. the LG Electronics pakistan, is a subsidiary of LG Electronics korea based in karachi. it has its regional office at lahore and distributors network all over the country.
he said that the company has very strong research and development (r&d) division and all products are launched on the basis on long research and on market need basis. for example, he said, the solar panel product was launched after research of 20 years. lg pakistan started its business here some 20 years ago when it took over gold star. "having company's distribution network across pakistan, the company's market share is continuously increasing", he said.
ryu said that the company is well aware of its social corporate responsibilities. he pointed out that the company had presented a cheque of $40,000 to sindh governor as donation for flood affected people. recently, the company distributed blankets among the flood affected people in peshawar also, said. farrukh alam, manager, b2b solution - cac & solar energy, giving details of the product, said that initially the company is introducing solar panel and gradually other related components of solar energy technology would also be introduced. he said that solar energy, generated by these panels, could be used for domestic, commercial and industrial purposes.
